Interest, Fees and Pricing Policy

Know what a loan will cost before you commit.

A clear price, in writing

Request a personalised written quotation before deciding. It should distinguish the loan principal, deductions before disbursement, the amount paid to you, interest, other charges and the total scheduled repayment. A headline rate alone does not show the full cost of borrowing.

How pricing is governed

Each lending product must have an approved tariff and a documented basis for its charges. Pricing decisions should consider the cost of providing the loan, credit risk, applicable Malawi requirements and fair customer outcomes. Staff must use the authorised tariff and explain any permitted variation. A personal payment to a staff member must never determine your loan terms.

What your quotation should explain

Check whether interest is charged on the original amount or the reducing balance; whether the rate is fixed or variable; its time period; repayment frequency; compulsory charges; optional services; taxes where applicable; and any security-related costs. Ask for the annualised cost measure required for your product and the assumptions used to calculate it.

Fees and changes

Any application, processing, administration, insurance, late-payment, early-settlement or restructuring charge must be checked against the current approved tariff and your agreement. This page does not establish that any of those charges apply. Proposed changes must follow the agreement and applicable notice requirements, with a clear explanation of their effect.

Comparing offers

Compare the amount you receive and total you repay over the same term. A monthly percentage and an annual percentage are not interchangeable. Ask whether the quoted total assumes every instalment is paid on time. Request an updated settlement figure before repaying early.

Calculator and repayment support

The website calculator is an educational illustration using the figures you enter. It is not a KFC quotation, affordability decision or verified APR calculation. If a charge differs from your documents, ask for an itemised explanation through the Complaints page.
