Turn your skills map into business progress
A practical conversation guide for entrepreneurs and the KFC team. Use your assessment to agree what to work on, what help is available and how to check progress.
1. Start with the entrepreneur’s context
Discuss the business stage, customers, operating model, current challenge and the entrepreneur’s own priorities. Ask how they interpreted the questions and whether they needed help reading or using the tool. Do not infer ability from education, language, gender, faith, age or access to a smartphone.
Ask: What is working? What is difficult? What would make the biggest difference in the next 90 days?
2. Explore evidence and team coverage
Choose examples behind the strongest and lowest ratings. An adviser can ask the entrepreneur to explain a cashbook entry, walk through a quotation or describe how a complaint was handled. A selected evidence option is a self-report, not proof that anyone has checked it.
Separate personal ability from business capability. A colleague, accountant or adviser may cover an area well. With permission, record who covers the task, the agreed evidence and the support gap. Do not change self-ratings silently or label the owner’s character from their scores.
3. Agree up to three support priorities
The report proposes the lowest-scoring areas, including a focus the entrepreneur chose. Discuss whether those are the most useful priorities for their stage. Agree available help, an owner, an achievable action and a review date. Confirm any training availability or costs before making a commitment.
Suggested support themes: customer discovery; marketing and sales; costing and pricing; cash flow; record keeping; operations; people and delegation; digital safety; business controls; finance preparation. The assessment does not promise that every service is currently available.
Build the skills behind your business
Use the 12-module entrepreneur training programme to improve the skills highlighted by your assessment. Each module includes practical lessons, a worked example, a worksheet, knowledge questions and an assignment matched to your learning level.
4. Keep the lending assessment separate
Use the map to plan developmental support. Do not set an automatic pass mark, loan limit, interest rate, approval or rejection from these self-ratings or knowledge checks. They have not been validated for that purpose.
Follow KFC’s approved process for verifying application information, existing borrowing, repayment capacity, product suitability, identity, security and written terms. Missing preparation items are topics to resolve; the checklist itself does not decide eligibility. Request documents only through the secure process confirmed by KFC.
5. Write a 30/60/90-day support plan
By day 30: practise one concrete task and gather the first example. By day 60: repeat it consistently and check results with the agreed helper. By day 90: review the evidence, update the plan and, where useful, repeat the assessment.
Record: priority; starting situation; agreed action; owner; helper; evidence of progress; target date; review outcome. Keep business outcomes such as cleaner records or fewer stock discrepancies separate from changes in confidence or self-rating.
6. Review progress without overclaiming
Compare the entrepreneur’s earlier and later maps alongside actual work. Ask what changed and what still needs help. A higher self-rating does not demonstrate causation or prove that a loan or training intervention caused improvement.
For programme learning, use consented, appropriately protected records under KFC’s approved processes. Do not create public lists of applicants or publish individual scores. Any portfolio reporting should distinguish completed assessments, agreed support plans and verified business outcomes.
Sharing and next steps
The online tool does not send answers to a central database. Entrepreneurs can download their report and choose to email a summary to info@kingdomfirstcp.com, bring the report to a conversation or call +265 880 759004. Staff should explain the purpose and approved handling of information before retaining it.
Once the team receives a request, agree whether it concerns support, a finance enquiry or both. A downloaded report or prepared email is not proof that KFC received an application.
